Today we drove along the Glenn Highway to Eagle River Nature Center where we went snowshoeing and took some nice family photos. We also met two dogs that came out of the woods at the nature center and followed us down the trail until my dad said, "Go home!" We then drove along the Glenn Highway to the Musk Ox Farm where we saw this amazing animal that had a second layer of fur called qiviut (kiv-ee-ut). It is very valuable and blankets, scarves, hats, etc. are made out of it, and these items are sold for hundreds of dollars. Qiviut is collected from the musk ox in the spring and is given to the native Alaskan villages so that they can knit these things and make money. There was a small gift shop at the Musk Ox Farm and I bought a little stuffed animal musk ox of my own, and I named it Brown Sugar. We went to a pizza place for supper called Moose's Tooth that had good pizza.
I miss you all (just don't tell Mrs. Jakel that).
